Dacron Lines Features
Advantages：
- Durability and lifespan – Dacron has excellent resistance to wear, UV exposure, and moisture, making it one of the longest-lasting line materials.
- Shock absorption – Slight elasticity reduces peak loads during flight, which is forgiving for wings and pilots.
- Ease of handling – The thicker diameter is easier to see, untangle, and inspect for damage.
- Predictable performance – Gradual stretch over time is easy to monitor and compensate for during maintenance.
Disadvantages:
- Higher drag – Thicker line diameter increases aerodynamic resistance, reducing glide performance compared to Dyneema or Vectran.
- Weight – Heavier than modern high-modulus fibers, adding overall mass to the line set.
- Stretch over time – Although stable, it elongates slowly with use, requiring periodic retrimming.
- Limited use in competition – Because of drag and weight, it is less common in high-performance racing wings.
